Kongsberg Jazz Festival ( www.kongsberg-jazzfestival.no ) , Norway's second
largest (after Molde; Click here ), is held over four days in early July and draws numerous
avant-garde international and Norwegian performers. A percentage of profits goes towards
humanitarian projects.

outside it might look like just a typical roadside motel but this lovely hotel, 20km north of
Kongsberg on the Geilo road, has plenty of charm. The common areas are overloaded with
interesting knick-knacks and cosy sofas perfect for curling up with a book on a cold day.
Sadly the rooms are a bit more plain. There's a decent restaurant that has traditional Nor-
