The tourist office ( 51 46 82 33; www.eigersund.kommune.no ; Jernbaneveien 2;
10am-6pm Mon-Fri, to 4pm Sat & Sun Jun-Aug) is fine for local information, but
it's only open in summer. During the rest of the year the Kulturkontonet (Strandgaten
58; 8am-3pm Mon-Fri) can help with basic tourist information. The building itself is
worth checking out even if you don't need any help.
Getting There & Away
Trains to/from Kristiansand (Nkr199 to Nkr299, two hours) run four times daily, and there
are eight daily services to/from Stavanger (Nkr145, one hour).
Around Egersund
If you're driving along the Rv42 west of Egersund, Terland Klopp , 15km northeast of
town, is a lovely 60m-long bridge from 1888.
Eigerøy Fyr (Midbrødøy; adult/child Nkr20/ 10; noon-5pm Sun Jun-Aug) , the
majestic1855lighthouseonMidbrødøy,isnearthesouthwesterntipofEigerøyisland.Still
one of the most powerful lighthouses in Europe, it has great views at any time, but espe-
cially on stormy days. From late May until the end of August a cafe and ornithological
station is open here.
