Located in a quiet,
pleasant neighbourhood, this homey pension offers one of the best deals in the capital. The
building dates from1890andmany ofthe original features (highceilings, rosedesigns) re-
main. Rooms are bright and airy, with refrigerators and kettles, and there's a small garden
to lounge about in on sunny days. There's no exterior sign, but it's the big white house. It's
a popular place, so reservations are a must in the summer.

Opened as a guesthouse for
bachelors in the 1920s, the very good value Cochs has sparsely furnished, clean rooms,
some of which have kitchenettes. It's ideally located behind the Royal Palace. The rooms
at the back overlooking the Slottsparken are especially spacious. There is a luggage room.

In addition to offering some of the best prices in central Oslo, the P-Hotel has
comfortable if slightly dull rooms with decent bathrooms. Breakfast, which is put in a bag
and delivered to your door, is included. There are tea- and coffee-making facilities in the
rooms. This hotel couldn't be much more central.
