the nation's largest collection of Norwegian art, including works from the Romantic era
and more-modern works from 1800 to WWII. Some of Edvard Munch's best-known cre-
ations are on display, including his most renowned work, The Scream (see the boxed text,
Clickhere ).There'salsoanimpressive collection ofEuropeanartwithworksbyGauguin,
Picasso and El Greco, and impressionists such as Manet, Degas, Renoir, Matisse, Cézanne
and Monet.

Art. Some of the 3000-piece collection is definitely an acquired taste, but it does provide
a timely reminder that Norwegian art didn't cease with Edvard Munch. There are frequent
cutting-edge temporary exhibitions. The in-house cafe is also worthy of praise.

world peace over the course of the previous year. This state-of-the-art museum celebrates
the lives and achievements of the winners with an array of digital displays intended to of-
fer as much or as little information as the visitor desires. Don't miss the Nobel Book on
the 2nd floor or the movie theatre streaming films on the history of the prize and its win-
ners( Clickhere ).Therearefrequentchangingexhibitionsfocusingondifferentaspectsof
the prize and its winners. Recent exhibitions have detailed the struggle against apartheid in
South Africa and the pros and cons of the controversial awarding of the 2009 prize to US
