OSLO IN…
Two Days
Start your day at the
National Gallery
for a representative dose of artwork by Ed-
vard Munch. Afterwards, in
Aker Brygge
try an alfresco, pier-side lunch of peel-
and-eat shrimp from one of the local fishing boats. Take a ferry from here to Bygdøy
Peninsula, and spend your afternoon learning about the exploits of Norway's greatest
explorers at the
Polarship Fram
or
Viking Ship Museums
. On day two head to the
breathtaking new
Oslo Opera House
(timing your visit to coincide with one of the
guided tours), after which you can take a look at all that's cool and modern at the
Na-
tional Museum of Contemporary Art
. In the afternoon explore the medieval
Akershus Castle
, and learn how to make the world a better place at the
Nobel
Peace Center
.
Four Days
If you have a couple of extra days, wander among the bold, earthy statues at
Vige-
land Park
and consider launching yourself off the enormous
Holmenkollen Ski
Jump
, although it's probably better to content yourself with a virtual attempt in the
nearby simulator. The energetic might also spend a day walking, skiing or biking in
the
Nordmarka
; otherwise simply make a lazy day trip to pretty
Fredrikstad
.
