2.5.3.5.1 Coal Gun Position
Three different gun positions have been tested (for both low- and high-velocity coal

emissions decrease from configuration 1 (coal gun position close to the
central air jet) to configurations 2 and 3 (coal gun farther from the air jet). The same
trend was found for low-velocity gun and high-velocity gun. This effect is due to
the oxygen availability in the primary zone of the flame.

In configuration 1 the coal is mixing faster with the central air jet, and combus-
tion is taking place at the boundary of the central air jet in a region with O
2
vol%
