Cisco IP Communicator
Cisco IP Communicator is an application that allows users to make and receive calls on their PC. To set up IP Communicator with
CUCM 4.x, you must do the following (at a minimum):
Step 1.
Ensure that CallManager/CUCM is at least version 4.0(1)sr2.
Step 2.
Add a phone by going to Device, Phone, Add New in Cisco CUCM Administration. Select Cisco IP Communicator as
the phone type.
Step 3.
Specify required information, including items such as the MAC address. The MAC address is that of the NIC of the
machine on which Cisco IP Communicator is installed.
Step 4.
Add the directory number.
Step 5.
Install Cisco IP Communicator software. Select audio devices, adjust the volume, choose the appropriate NIC, specify
the IP address of the CUCM (TFTP server), and enter a username/password.
Directory Numbers
Directory numbers (DN) are assigned to phones and can be added and configured by navigating to Call Routing, Directory Number .
DN configuration includes the following:
DN information (number, partition, and so on)
DN settings (voicemail profile, calling search space, and so on)
AAR settings
Call forward and call pickup settings
MLPP alternate party settings
Line settings for all devices
