Many wildcards can be used in the route pattern, including
X : Any single digit (0 to 9, * and #)
@ : North American Numbering Plan (NANP)
! : One or more digits (0 to 9, * and #)
[x-y] : Range between x and y
[^x-y] : Exclude range between x and y
. : Access code termination
# : Interdigit timeout termination
<wildcard>? : Zero or more occurrences of any digit that matches the wildcard
<wildcard>+ : One or more occurrences of any digit that matches the wildcard
\+ : The + character in a number
