In-Depth Information
Signal Distribution Layer (SDL) traces: Usually used by Cisco TAC engineers to examine processes at a code level in
CUCM.
Command-line interface (CLI): It is possible to run a variety of troubleshooting commands from the CLI. You can access
the CLI either via a directly connected monitor and keyboard or via a Secure Shell (SSH) session.
CUCM functionality relies on a number of services. When troubleshooting, it is useful to understand what these services are
responsible for:
Cisco CallManager: Provides call processing and call control.
Cisco TFTP: Responsible for building and serving files for devices such as Cisco IP phones.
Cisco Messaging Interface: Used with voicemail systems that use SMDI.
Cisco Unified Voice Access Service: This service starts mobile voice access capabilities within Cisco Unified Mobility (an
Interactive Voice Response [IVR] system).
Cisco IP Voice Media Streaming Application: Provides functionality underlying MoH, conferences, and MTP.
Cisco CTIManager: Provides an interface with JTAPI/TAPI applications.
Cisco Extension Mobility: Allows the definition of login settings used with the CUCM Extension Mobility feature.
Cisco Extended Functions: Provides support for features such as Cisco Call Back and QRT.
Cisco Dialed Number Analyzer: Supports the CUCM Dial Number Analyzer tool.
Cisco DHCP Monitor Service: Monitors IP address changes for IP phones.
Cisco CallManager/Unified Attendant Console Server: Allows call control and line state information for attendant console
clients. It also provides redirection to hunt group directory numbers for pilot points. Note that the Attendant Console is now
end-of-sale.
Cisco IP Manager Assistant: Allows managers and their assistants to work together more effectively.
