Undoubtedly the best time to visit Hudiksvall is during the beginning of July, when the town
hosts the Musik vid Dellen , a multifarious cultural ten-day festival, including folk music and
other traditional events (for more information, contact the tourist o ce or see
W musikviddellen.se), held in churches and farms in the surrounding countryside.

EATING AND DRINKING
Dackås Konditori Storgatan 34 T 0650 123 29. For a
snack, try this Hudiksvall institution that's been here since
the 1950s, now decked out as a modern lounge-style café,
offering a range of baked potatoes, quiche and pancakes in
addition to coffee and cakes. Mon-Fri 7am-6pm, Sat
8am-3pm.
Ì Hot Chili Hamngatan 5 T 0650 757 50. Try this
superb option near the bus and train stations for
authentically spicy Asian stirfries, rustled up before your
eyes by chefs in the open kitchen for just 89kr (also
takeaway); it's arguably the best and most popular place in
town for lunch. Mon & Tues 11am-8pm, Wed-Fri
11am-10pm, Sat noon-10pm, Sun noon-8pm.

Hudiksvall's one and only bar is opposite the fishermen's
warehouses at Möljen, with occasional live music. Each
Wed there's a deal known as the “29-er” - a selection of
sandwiches, wraps and pytt i panna for just 29kr each. Wed
6pm-2am, Fri & Sat 8pm-2am.

With cacti and lifesize models of cowboys and Indians, the
Wild West has truly arrived in Hudiksvall at this fun restaurant
serving juicy steaks (from 219kr) and burgers (from 129kr);
bison steaks are generally available, too (349kr). Mon-Fri
5pm-1am, Sat 1pm-1am, Sun 2-10pm.
The Hornslandet peninsula
For a day-trip from Hudiksvall, head southeast out to the beautiful and unspoilt
Hornslandet peninsula , renowned for its quaint fishing villages of red wooden cottages
and sandy beaches . This egg-shaped chunk of land is the geological result of
continuous land rise since the last Ice Age; as recently as the Viking era, the Arnösund
sound, which once separated Hornslandet from the mainland, was easily navigable and
remained an important channel for seafarers until the tenth century. Today, though, the
sound has silted up and the peninsula is effectively an extension of the Bothnian coast.
This whole area is rich in flora and fauna, as well as being ideal for swimming, fishing
and walking; there are two villages to head for in particular: Hölick and Kuggörarna .

Located at the southern tip of the peninsula, HÖLICK , the larger of the two villages,
