On the northern edge of Gamla Gefle on the riverside, the county museum,
Länsmuséet Gävleborg
, has displays of artwork by some of the great Swedish artists
from the seventeenth century to the present day, including Gunnar Cyrén, Nils
Kreuger and Carl Larsson. Also on display is the work of a local artist, Johan-Erik
Olsson (popularly known as “Lim-Johan”), whose vivid imagination and naive
technique produced some strange childlike paintings.
