In-Depth Information
Free Churches
Although there's little else to see in the town centre, it is remarkable for the sheer
number of Free Churches - over twenty in the immediate vicinity; consequently,
Jönköping has been dubbed “Sweden's Jerusalem”. As the traditional Church watches
its congregations diminish, people are turning instead to these independent and
fundamentalist churches.

spots too. For a local food speciality, go for the vätternröding (Lake Vättern char), brought here from the unusually cold
and deep Lake Vättern, which can sustain fish normally found in the Baltic Sea.
