Eating in Kristianstad throws up several opportunities, though the prettiest café,
Fornstugan
, is only open during the short
summer season. Otherwise, there's a fair range of restaurants clustered around the central square.

Inordinately popular at lunchtime when takeaway
(including pizza) is the best option.

place for lunch when people come for pasta salads,

An atmospheric and elaborately
carved Hansel-and-Gretel lodge in the middle of the park
which is Kristianstad's most pleasant café; the outdoor
seating area opens in fine weather, though the whole place
closes if it rains. Serves waffles, coffee and cakes.
