respectively) entitles you to free museum entry, free parking at public car parks and unlimited
bus journeys within town. It also gives various other discounts on certain sights. Pick up

make a fun way of seeing the city; they leave daily from the
canal opposite the
Elite Savoy
hotel (late April to Sept daily
11am-7pm; 50min; 120kr;

rundan.se). Alternatively,
pedal boats let you tour around the canal network at your
own pace. They're moored at Amiralsbron (late April to Sept
daily 11am-7pm; 130kr/hr;

By bike
To strike out to the south of the city or further
afield, bike rental is a good idea. The best place is Fridhems
Cykelaffär at Tessins väg 13 (
T
040 26 03 35): head down
Citadellsvägen past Malmöhus, take the first left,
Mariedalsvägen, then right into Tessins väg. Otherwise, try
Cykelkliniken, Regementsgatan 12, across the canal from
Gustav Adolfs torg (
T
040 611 66 66), where a day's rental
is 120kr.
ACCOMMODATION
There are some really good and surprisingly affordable
hotels
in Malmö; the city is eager to attract tourists, and
competition between the hotels can be fierce. Most hotels can be booked online at
W
malmo.se/hotellbokning where
special deals are sometimes also available.

A few minutes from the train station

wooden floors and modern Scandinavian decor, worth

Very central (between the two main
squares), this is a swanky place done out in swags and
flourishes that are more British than Swedish in design
with chandeliers and handwov
en carpets rat
her than
polished wood floors throughout.

Exceptionally cosy
rooms for a chain hotel (this was until recently a long-
standing family-run place) whose modern interiors really
are a home from home. The anonymous chain hotel feel
has yet to
pervade this winning little place.

This is where Lenin, Bardot and Dietrich
all stayed, with a brass plaque to prove it. Now part of the
upmarket Elite chain, it's lost its edge but the rooms are big
and very comforta
ble, and the ex
tensive breakfast is an
experience in itself.
