EATING AND DRINKING
There are plenty of charming places to eat and drink in Lund, many frequented by students helping keep prices low,
especially for beer. For provisions, the Saluhallen market at Mårtenstorget (Mon-Fri 9.30am-6pm, Sat 9am-3pm), sells a
range of fish, cheeses and meats, including Lund's own tasty speciality sausage, knake .

plain and simple Thai restaurant is very popular with the
town's student population for its decent and generous

New Delhi Stora Fiskaregatan 15 T 046 15 25 61. A
really good Indian restaurant that's made more of an effort
on interior decor than its Thai neighbour, but whose mains
are slightly more expensive (from 109kr). The chicken
jalfrezi (109kr) is a winner every time. Mon-Thurs
11am-10pm, Fri 11am-11pm, Sat noon-11pm, Sun
3-10pm.
Sankt Michel Vin och Tapasbar Östra Mårtensgatan
13 T 046 14 14 30. Taking inspiration from similar
restaurants in Barcelona, this is Lund's very own Spanish
tapas bar with a great selection of mouthwatering morsels
such as fried feta, gazpacho and calamari; 55kr each, or
four for 195kr. Mon 5-10pm, Tues-Thurs 5-11pm, Fri &
Sat 5pm-midnight.
Stäket Stora Södergatan 6 T 046 211 93 67. A step-
gabled vaulted house built in 1570 is the characterful
setting for this fondue- (from 170kr) and meat-oriented
place. A mixed grill is 195kr, grilled duck breast is 205kr,
and venison steak in lingonberry sauce costs 220kr. Mon-

midnight, Sun 1-11pm.
CAFÉS
Café Ariman Kungsgatan 2 T 046 13 12 63. Attached to
the Nordic Law Department, this classic left-wing coffee
house is located in a striking red-brick building. It's
frequented by wannabe writers and artists, with goatees,
ponytails and blonde dreadlocks predominating. Cheap
snacks, coffee and cakes. Mon 11am-midnight, Tues-
Thurs 11am-1am, Fri & Sat 11am-3am, Sun 1-11pm.
Mondo Kyrkogatan 23 T 046 14 81 58. In a quaint, half-
timbered house with tiled interior walls, this pleasant little
café serves bagels, baguettes, pasta salads and ciabattas.
Does takeaway, too, and is a popular student haunt. Mon-
Fri 8am-8pm, Sat & Sun 10am-6pm.

44. This is a place to pop in for a takeaway sandwich or a
cake rather than somewhere to sit and linger as the interior
is rather plain. However, its baked goods are always fresh
and tasty. Mon-Fri 7.30am-6.30pm, Sat 8am-5pm,
Sun 9.30am-4.30pm.
RESTAURANTS
Gattostretto Kattesund 6A T 046 32 07 77. Compact
neighbourhood Italian which really draws the crowds:
great prices such as pasta of the day (75kr), tuna salad
(74kr) and ravioli with ricotta, basil and pine nuts (139kr).
