ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
BÅSTAD
By train Until the much-delayed rail tunnel through
the Hallandsås ridge of hills outside Båstad is complete
and the town's new train station opens, it remains
a lamentably long walk of around half an hour up
Köpmangatan into the town centre from the existing
station.
Destinations Copenhagen (hourly; 2hr); Gothenburg
(hourly; 1hr 40min); Malmö (hourly; 1hr 30min).
By bus To reach the Bjäre peninsula, you need to take a bus
from the bus station off Musterivägen near the Spara
supermarket.
Destination Torekov (6 daily; 30min).

ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation in Båstad is plentiful, but to find somewhere to stay during the Swedish Open in July, you'll need to book
months in advance. Unlike the rest of Sweden, prices increase dramatically during the summer as a result of the town's
sporting endeavours.

wonderfully located just above the harbour in delightful
gardens. A 1916-built villa, the house has b een lov ingly

road, Köpmansgatan, dates from 1910 and is the oldest
in town. It represents good value for money, though the
decor is a little frilly and fussy. Open June-Aug only.

a cream bathhouse with stylish annexe villas, includes a
great health spa (included in all room rates). Rooms in the
tennis pavi lion ann exe and the neighbouring annexe cost

site is a couple of kilomet res we st of the town centre. Open

EATING AND DRINKING
In Båstad, eating and drinking is as much a pastime as tennis, and most of the waterside eating establishments and hotels
here have two-course dinner offers, with menus changing weekly

harbour, this is the place to come to get your fishy fix - they
have seemingly everything from cold-smoked salmon on
rye bread (95kr) to a delicious fish and seafood stew
(185kr). June-Aug daily 11am-10pm.

77. Undoubtedly the best of the waterfront seafood
places with a large wooden deck overlooking the marina.
A plentiful, frequently changing choice of fish and meat
specials (179-298kr). Easter to Aug daily noon till late.
Ì Pepe's Bodega Hamngatan 6 T 0431 36 91 69. A
very popular place with Båstad's 20-somethings, serving
pizzas from 185kr and tapas such as gazpacho and calamari
