cynodon (
Cynodon dactylon
(L.) Pers.) from some varieties of zoysia grass
(
Zoysia
ssp.) could be difficult, but because cynodon has folded vernation
and zoysia grass has rolled, identification is quite easy.
The leaf tip can sometimes play a role in species identification as
well. St Augustine grass (
Stenotaphrum secundatum
(Walter) Kuntze), for
example, has a characteristic rounded blade tip, which almost always
provides positive identification of this species.
