Hollands
Class & Type: This is an American class of chicken and the breed is now quite rare.
Origin: This breed originated from Holland.
Colors: Barred and white breeds are available.
Sizes: The breed comes in standard and bantam sizes.
Characteristics: This chicken has a single comb with clean legs. They are good brooders
and quite friendly birds. They lay large, white eggs and are dual purpose birds.
Javas
Class & Type: This is an American class breed and they are a medium heavy variety.
Origin: They are bred from an unknown Asian breed in the USA.
Colors: The breed comes in white, black and mottled.
Sizes: They come in standard and bantam sizes.
Characteristics: They have single combs and clean legs. The breed is very docile and
broods well. It is a dual purpose chicken and can be confined.
Jersey Giants
Class & Type: This is a very heavy breed of chicken that originally was bred for meat. It is
classed as an American breed.
Origin: It originated in the US.
Colors: At first only black ones were bred but now Blue laced and White breeds can be
seen.
Sizes: It only comes in standard size.
Characteristics: These birds are crosses of Langshans and Brahmas breeds. They are large
chickens and can sometimes grow up to 13 pounds. These breeds are bred mainly for meat.
The Australorps were also used in the breeding process making some black giants look
similar to this breed. They lay brown eggs and can be used for this purpose.
Lamonas
Class & Type: This is an American class of breed and is now considered very rare.
