In-Depth Information
Animation can add a lot to a finished project. By including motion sequences with the finished deliverables,
you can increase your options and the options you can give to your clients. Animation can be a huge topic
(easily taking up an entire book on its own). This can be daunting to the beginner, but with a few simple tech-
niques and some creative implementation, animation can add depth, value, and life to your projects without
eating up large amounts of time. After reading this chapter and practicing the exercises, you should be able
to do the following:
• Create simple animations using keyframes
• Fine-tune your animations through the use of the Graph Editor
• Animate by using locators and parenting
• Use motion paths
• Use constraints to keep animation controlled
• Compose final animations by using After Effects
Where to Go from Here
Animation can be helpful for any project. If it is something that you would like to learn more about, consider
using it in more capacities. Remember that nearly any attribute can be animated in modo, so animation can
be used for many different situations. In addition to animating transformational and other attributes of items,
many other things can be animated. Morphs can be used to animate deformations of objects (these can be
anything from simple changes in the mesh formation to different facial expressions on characters). For more
information on animation, numerous video tutorials are available at www.Luxology.com as well as on the
section of my website dedicated to this topic, located at http://3dforGD.sm-graphics.com .
