In-Depth Information
Review
This chapter serves to give you more depth of skill when working with textures and final renders. A solid
understanding of materials and how they are created will help you make surfaces for any type of model
with some practice. Taking a complete render and finishing or “sweetening” it in an image editor will help
you to go beyond the basics of simple renders. This will make them more flexible and give you additional
possibilities for adding a finishing touch. In the end, the style that you choose to create is your own. These
techniques, like imaging and 3D applications in general, are simply tools that you can use to bring your cre-
ative vision to life. After reading this chapter and practicing the exercises for each section, you should be
able to do the following:
• Create layered materials that are easily editable
• Create complex material groupings that can be blended and masked to add more depth to the sur-
face of your 3D models
• Create proper render outputs for post-processing
• Use rendered assets to edit image attributes in real time
• Finish your image by using render outputs and an image-editing application
