Transparent Shading can be a little tricky. This output provides us with any section of the scene that is
touched in any way by a transparent material. Transparent windows that show the backdrop behind fall into
this category. Transparent Shading also handles the headlights along with the entire interior of the car. Be-
cause the inner pieces of the headlights and interior of the car have some transparent material between them
and the viewer, they will appear here even though they are assigned opaque materials lit by the scene light
or environment. The Transparent Shading output is shown in
Figure 12-28
.

Any pixel in the rendered image that has a transparent element between itself and the cam-
era will be included in the Transparent Shading output.
