In-Depth Information
The other two settings (Edit and Delete) work pretty much as you would expect. The Sides and Segments
settings work very much like those on the Torus tool, where Sides identifies the cross-section subdivisions
and Segments defines the number of edges between the points. Radius once again refers to the cross-section
radius. The next two options give you control over the way your shape terminates. Caps adds polygons at
the beginning and end of the tube, while Closed creates one last segment between wherever your last point
is located and the starting point. As with other primitives, there is an option to make UVs. The UVs created
by the tool are quite good and will probably save you a lot of time.
A new set of options appears with the Tube tool: Profiles. This option appears in other tools in modo, and
you will take a more in-depth look at it in future chapters, but this is a great way to get an introduction to
this powerful subtool. The idea behind Profiles is to add additional detail to an otherwise smooth surface (in
this case, the body of the tube).
