Photo-Based Materials
Re-creating the dense pattern of stucco, or the random weathering of clay tiles, is a task well suited for
mathematical algorithms (procedural textures). Large, recognizable elements such as individual stones and
bricks are more difficult to create without the use of photographic textures. After setting up an appropriate
material with photographic texture layers, the actual images can be substituted, and entirely new materials
can be created with very little adjustment. Consider the texture shown in Figure 11-14 , which will be used
as the Diffuse Color map.
