show that the paint is filling in less of the fine gaps and crevices in the surface of the wood. A height of
around 15 mm will suffice. Figure 11-5 shows a stained wood material that has been created by adjusting a
few settings in the material and wood texture.

As was the case with the interior walls and carpets, selection sets can be employed to vary the color of
wood without the need to design completely different wood materials for each section. Within the material
groups that are assigned to the various selection sets, Constant layers can be used to control color and Spec-
ular/Reflective values. In addition, duplicates of the original Hardwood texture can be added to those groups
for which Wood Graininess needs to be adjusted. Because these wood materials will rarely reside in close
proximity to one another, the consistency of the procedural wood pattern will be virtually unrecognizable.
