In-Depth Information
The carpet is getting close in appearance to what we want but needs a little variation to make it really
work. Adding some Diffuse Amount will make the overall look of the carpet a little less flat.
1. Create an Instance of the Bump layer and set it to Diffuse Amount.
2. Adjust the values to get a result that is lighter but with less contrast than the bump layer. Set the
Background Value to 40% and the Foreground Value to 90%.
3. Now add one more procedural layer finish off the basic carpet. Add a Multi-Fractal texture (also
from the Enhance section under Noise).
4. Set the layer to Diffuse Amount.
5. Change the Background Value to 80% and leave the Foreground at 100%. This will be multiplied
over the other diffuse amount so it can be fairly subtle.
6. Change the layer blend mode to Multiply. Now the carpet base layer is complete. The material should
look like Figure 9-18 .
