Chapter 2
Creating Objects
Now that you have learned the basics of 3D space and covered the basics of a 3D workflow, you can start cre-
ating objects that will be the basis of your first scene. There are several ways to create models. In this chapter,
you will learn to create basic shapes and to manipulate them to create more-complex forms.
This chapter covers the following:
• Handling objects in modo
• Exploring the Work Plane
• Creating and editing primitives
• Making selections
• Using the transform tools
• Understanding action centers
• Using falloffs
Handling Objects in modo
Individual elements of a scene are known as items . In modo, items consist of cameras, lights, reference im-
ages, meshes (models), replicators, and various types of locators (placeholders used for textures, organization,
and animation). These can be found in your Items list on the upper-right side of the screen (see Figure 2-1 ).
