In-Depth Information
2. Make a second bevel with a Shift of 10 mm and an Inset of 5 mm. This will create an angle that pulls
the geometry away from the floors. This can cause some unwanted shadows, so an adjustment needs to
be made.
3. With the last loop of polygons still selected, activate the Move tool and move the polygons down 5
mm to make the bottom flush with the ground.
The crown molding and chair rails can be added wherever you see fit to complete the look of the mesh.
In addition to the benefits of being able to add the molded details, these additional slices will make it
easier to add different paint colors and textures without complex material editing. There are some dif-
ferences between these sections and the floorboards.
4. Make the polygon selections for areas that will be beveled.
5. Bevel the polygons with a small Shift amount (starting at about 30 mm).
6. Enable a profile and check to make sure it works with the given selection. Some profiles are meant
for particular-sized selections, so it is important to make sure that there is no overlapping in these areas.
7. Change the profile until you find a selection that suits your needs.
After adding molded details, your model is ready for textures, furniture, countertops, shelving, lighting,
and final rendering. Completing the last steps should give you a model that looks something like Figure
8-32 .
Figure 8-32: The added finishing touches complete the floor plan, which is ready for continued work on
color and furnishings.
