Making Gradient Adjustments
When it comes to more-complex adjustments to a texture, a gradient layer offers a lot of power if you are
willing to take some time and experiment. At its core, this layer works much like the Gradient Map tool
in Photoshop. The layer references the brightness values of an image (as if it were converted to grayscale)
and applies those values to a gradient range (see
Figure 6-15
