The umbrella has too many sides. Ideally, this would be a 12-sided umbrella, and the edges in between
the spokes would be straight. The current mesh has 24 sides, so half of those need to be eliminated. This can
be done with a simple process (which can be used in many other instances). To reduce the number of sides
and eliminate the unwanted edges, do the following:
1. Select one of the edges running out from the center of the mesh.
2. Moving in a radial fashion around the object, skip one edge and then select the next. This forms the
pattern for edge selection.
3. Using the up-arrow, select every other edge all the way around the object ( Figure 5-38 ) .
