In-Depth Information
3D lights and global illumination was discussed as well as some instances where each is more appropriate.
After reading this chapter and practicing the techniques presented, you should be able to do the following:
• Build a simple light rig
• Create controls to simplify the editing of a light rig
• Adjust materials for use with traditional lighting and global illumination
• Use global illumination alone or in conjunction with traditional lighting to create a completed
scene
Where to Go from Here
If you want additional practice, load some additional environments and adjust the direct lighting to comple-
ment the image-based lighting. In some cases, this will require additional lights and more editing than the
example from this chapter. Keep practicing. Lighting can be a powerful tool when used correctly, but can
also turn a viewer (or client) off very quickly if it is not wielded carefully.
