In-Depth Information
You may notice that the image looks a bit odd. Lighting is soft and realistic, but the skin now looks dry,
chalky, and lifeless. There are a couple of reasons for this sudden change: reflection and subsurface scatter-
ing. The original texture has no reflective values (only specular). To quickly remedy this problem, click the
Match Specular check box for the reflections on the skin shader. This brings back highlights but leaves the
character looking too shiny and wet. Turning on Blurry Reflections causes the reflections to soften the same
way the specular highlights did in the previous renders. If you want, you can also add some Fresnel to help
add subtle increase in reflections at steep angles to the camera.
