In-Depth Information
obtained both from foreign countries (France, Germany, Latvia, and Switzerland) and
the different regions of Russia (Novosibirsk region, Altai region, etc.). In the vicinity
of the biological research station “Lake Kuchak” graduate student A.N. Mikhailova
collected several wild forms. These forms are unique and are clearly useful for the
exchange fund.
To preserve biodiversity and the possibility of production of raw medicinal plants,
studies have been conducted on the cultivation of wild forms under simulated condi-
tions. The results of the comparative assessment of the growth and development of
plants in culture and in natural habitats suggest this line of promise [34].
The fund has a large department of botanical and geographical diversity of orna-
mental plants, totaling 159 specimens. Of particular value for cultivation in the urban-
ized areas of northern cities are samples that form viable seeds. Dedicated samples are
suitable for use in landscape design, which allows the company to provide specialized
Tyumen seeds of its own production.
7.5 CONCLUSIONS
The widespread use of samples from the world collection of All-Russian Scientific Re-
search Institute of Plant Industry of N.I. Vavilov (VIR) and hybrid and mutant forms
in genetic and breeding research is due to the need to introduce a new culture of
dominant genes. This approach will allow the major challenge of the selection process
associated with a genetic adaptation of varieties to the conditions of the region, which
significantly eliminates the dependence of yield changes in climatic and other condi-
tions.
We conducted the selection and creation of genetic sources of resistance to bi-
otic and abiotic stresses through the use of recombination and mutation variability of
plants.
At the present stage, the use of experimental mutations in the selection is impor-
tant. This is due to the fact that breeding success, which is based on the selection, is
closely linked to the presence of the gene pool of spontaneously occurring mutations.
However, the fund is depleted of natural benefi cial mutations, which leads to a de-
crease in the probability of a favorable combination of genes and the creation of new
genotypes in hybrid combinations. Obtaining mutations artifi cially signifi cantly faster
compared to natural conditions create a variety of genotypes that are the source of
recombinants with the new gene interaction.
Practical importance is the completion of the existing Institute of Biology of the
Tyumen State University genetic stock to sustainable use of plant resources.
We developed a control system gene pool of plants, including the identifi cation
of genotypes, the creation of passport and evaluation databases on the results of eco-
geographical and laboratory studies of samples of plants from the world collection of
VIR; other research institutions and other samples were obtained as a result of their
own funds.
