In-Depth Information
The considered belt is especially suitable for improvement of seed and food potato
diseases [3, 4].
6.3 MATERIALS AND METHODOLOGY
The sum of temperatures for the vegetative period varies within 1,880-2,600°C.
Length of the frost-free period reaches 160-170 days. Relative air humidity is usually
high during the whole year, 85-89 percent; however, in July-August, it can decrease
to 50 percent, sometimes lower [4].
This study was conducted in 2012-2013 in the mountain zone of RNO-Alania on
the mountain meadow soils covered with pebbles (1,450 m above sea level, branch of
the chair of plant growing of the agronomical faculty, Gorsky State Agrarian Univer-
sity, village Kurtat in Alagir region).
Experience was gained in 2012-2013 according to the following scheme: The lev-
els of mineral nutrition in different phases of development—appearance of shoots,
butting, fl owering, and fading of potato top mass were determined. Structure of tuber
yield in various varieties, dry matters, and reducing sugars in various potatoes depend-
ing on mineral nutrition were determined. The reaction on different chemical fertiliz-
ers on the following varieties of potato was tested: Volzhanin; Udacha; Bars. We added
fertilizers in doses: N 32 P 32 K 32 ; N 48 P 48 K 48 ; N 64 P 64 K 64 . In a control variant fertilizers did
not added.
The experiment was conducted in a fourfold frequency in a total plot area 28 m 2 ,
record plot, 25 m 2 . Preceding crop was winter wheat.
Seed material represented a tuber fi rst reproduction weight of 60 and 80 g. Plant-
ing was carried out by hand according to the scheme 75 × 30 cm on ridges. Mineral
fertilizers such as “nitroamophoska” were introduced in spring before reformation of
ridges. Care for plantings is standard: interrow loosening was performed while emerg-
ing weeds and soil panning. Preparations Karate and Ridomil-Gold were used against
the Colorado potato beetle and potato blight.
6.4 RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
The field experiment was conducted by Dospekhov's method (1985). All observations
were done by the methods of the All-Russian research institute of plants protection
(1990) and the All-Russian research potato institute (1967 and 1989). Yield record was
carried out using the continuous weight method.
Researches results: Researches showed that the approach for the phases of potato
development depends on the biological features of varieties, agrotechnical methods,
and developed weather conditions during the period of vegetation.
B. A. Pisarev and G. A. Galkin's data [6, 7] testify that the duration of variety of
vegetation and time of its passing the separate phenological phases greatly depends on
yearly weather conditions. Further development of phases and passing the interphase
periods greatly depend on the timeliness of sprouts, and it implies the regularity of
plants nutrition and yield accumulation.
