In-Depth Information
biochemical composition and feeding value of the variety samples of red clover and
G. orientalis depend on the age of the plant, as well as the specifi c and varietal char-
acteristics of the crop. An important characteristic of the feed derived from the variety
samples of red clover and G. orientalis is their biological nutritional value, which is
determined by the amino acid composition of the protein. Proteins are more nutri-
tious if they are balanced in amino acid composition and contain more essential amino
acids. The biological nutritional value of the proteins in the studied variety samples
was defi ned by us comparing them with the total percentage of the most valuable and
highly digestible protein of chicken eggs, as well as with the theoretical protein, which
is currently recommended by FAO as “ideal.” In accordance with FAO, the content of
essential amino acids in the theoretical protein should be equal to threonine 4.0 per-
cent, valine 5.0 percent, methionine 1.7 percent, isoleucine, 4.0 percent, leucine 7.0
percent, phenylalanine 2.6 percent, lysine 5.5 percent, and tryptophan 1.0 percent and
their sum is 30.8 percent (Table 27.3).
