The highest rate of dry matter content was found among variety samples of the red
clover Mut-BSAA (22.6 vs 21.49% in the variety Mereya); in G. orientalis —in SEG-2
(24.0 vs 22.9% in the variety Nesterka). The differences between the variety samples
of the two crops have also been identifi ed by other indicators of the biochemical analy-
sis. In the red clover, the limits of variability among variety samples were on protein
content 16.32-18.38 percent; fat 2.95-3.40 percent, ash 11.20-12.30 percent; fi ber
22.40-25.62 percent; NFEs 37.69-39.99 percent; Ca—1.21-1.36 percent; P—0.73-
0.95 percent; sugar—4.05-4.50 percent; carotene—34.0-37.8 mg/kg. In G. orientalis ,
differences among samples on the biochemical composition were also revealed. The
variation of biochemical parameters depending on the samples had the following lim-
its: the protein content of 16.06-19.23 percent; fat 2.99-3.14 percent; ash 11.06-11.20
percent; fi ber—25.40-27.52 percent; NFE 34.10-38.00 percent; Ca—1.21-1.33 per-
cent; P—0.65-0.74 percent; sugar—4.00-4.64 percent; carotene—33.5-38.11 mg/
kg. The comparison of the biochemical indices of the green mass between red clover
and G. orientalis showed that there are differences between them, but both of them
have high feeding value as to the nutrient content composition. As for the variety
samples and their comparative assessment of each other, the variability of quantitative
parameters of the biochemical composition that occurs among them has allowed us to
make a selection of the samples exceeding the nutrient feeding value of the red clover
Mereya and G. orientalis Nesterka. Among red clover plants to such variety samples
belong SL-38 and Mut -BSAA, as to G. orientalis : SEG-1 and SEG-2. Along with the
better feed nutrition, these variety samples in comparison with the control were char-
acterized by higher production potential. The results of these studies showed that the
