ods of computer-aided fi xing of the cuts made by video-attachment 'Philips ToUcam
camera' and measurement of the sizes of fruit structural elements with the help of spe-
cial computer-aided system 'Image Scope Lite' assigned for microscopy and analysis.
Apple fruits of such cultivars as 'Golden Delicious,' 'Aidared,' 'Jonathan,'
'Mantuaner,' 'Melrose,' 'Rubinove Duky' were taken from an experimental orchard
of Uman National University of Horticulture.
Nonirrigated orchard was planted on rootstock M.9 and on seedling rootstock
'Antonivka' with the use of inter-stem PB 62-396. Anatomical structure was studied
according to the methodology worked out by A.O. Hrytsaienko [15] and our observa-
tions made with the help of updated methods of computer-aided fi xing of the cuts
made by video-attachment 'Philips ToUcam camera' and measurement of the sizes of
fruit structural elements with the help of special computer-aided system 'Image Scope
Lite' assigned for microscopy and analysis.
14.3 RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
A lower part of a longitudinal cut of grafting with one part of callus tissue, which was
formed between secondary xylem of rootstock M26 and hydrocide bud of cultivar
'Johnagold,' is shown (Figure 14.1).
FIGURE 14.1 Longitudinal radial cut of the grafting place (a lower part of the bud) of cultivar
'Johnagold' on rootstock M.26.
Such wedge-shaped tissue in a longitudinal section covers (in the form of a ring)
the whole section of the tree. A rather wide layer of a protective tissue is seen between
a bud and a section of the rootstock; it is formed where grafting components join. It is
