There are many other examples of invagination and evagination but these have not
received as much close study as the systems described here. In each case, complex and
large-scale changes in the shape of tissue are the result of simple changes at the cell level,
which do not require cells to have any special
'knowledge' of
the grand plan of
morphogenesis.
