ZEBRAS AT THE ZOOLOGISCHER GARTEN
Kids' Berlin
Attitudes to young children in Berlin can strike outsiders as oddly
ambivalent. While the city has a large number of single-parent families and
excellent social services provisions, Berliners aren't too tolerant of kids in
“adult” places, such as restaurants or bars, and though the city boasts a
higher proportion of lakes, parks and woodland than any other European
capital, there are few o cial attractions in those places directly geared
towards entertaining children. If you're bringing kids, be prepared to do
Berlin versions of the obvious things - zoos, museums, shops - rather than
anything unique to the city. In addition to browsing the selections that we
have covered here, you should also check the “Kinder” sections of listings
magazines Tip and Zitty (see p.33) for details of what's on.
