simple, unfussy interior - just a few simple wooden tables
and some black-and-white photos on the walls - disguises
the fact that the Austrian chef serves up the best Wiener
Schnitzel

This intimate wine bar and restaurant, all sturdy wooden
tables and wine barrel decoration, is a bit of a local secret.
It serves up food as traditional as the interior, but has a
strong emphasis on local produce and German wines, as
well as imported high-quality products like French cheeses
and Iberian ham. Mains start at €9, and from Monday to
Wednesday you can get eight small courses for €40. Mon-

served in the back room of a locals' Kneipe . The plastic-and-
formica decor has echoes of the GDR and, at around €8 per
dish, the prices are almost as cheap as back then, too. Daily

popular Vietnamese spots in the area. The interior is cosy,
subtly upscale yet traditional (oak tables, handmade
lamps) and the menu, while small, changes twice weekly
and is generally fresh (all dishes are guaranteed glutamate-
free). In summer sit outside by the immaculately
landscaped street garden. Daily noon-midnight.

Nearby Trattoria Paparazzi gets all the attention, but this
smaller Italian place serves superior food - simple, home-
style and fresh - and has a more intimate atmosphere. Its

landing on the shores of the Müggelsee. Deck chairs, beer
and cocktails in a pleasant spot at the end of the Spreetunnel,
