Eating and drinking
Berlin has all the restaurants, cafés and bars you'd expect from a major
European capital, with virtually every imaginable cuisine: indeed, the
national gastronomy generally takes a back seat to Greek, Turkish, Balkan,
Indian and Italian specialities. Berliners tend to eat out regularly, so prices
are reasonable - a main dish typically costs around €6 to €10 - though
you can easily triple this figure by dining at top-end places serving “Neue
Deutsche Küche”. In line with Berlin's rolling nightlife timetable, you can
pretty much eat and drink around the clock. Most restaurants happily serve
until around 11pm, and even later it's not hard to find somewhere in most
neighbourhoods.
