Ahmed then took us to an early and very enlightened 14
th
century hospital called the Bi-
maristan Arghun Al-Kamili. He explained the various revolutionary forms of therapy that
had been developed and administered there including; light, colour, water, sound and aro-
matherapy. It all seemed very relaxing and it had been a place, where some people had
chosen to stay, regardless of whether they were ill or not. A group of musicians had often
performed there as music was considered to play an important role in the treatment and re-
covery of patients.
