While waiting in the queue for check-in, a young man asked us to take some bags through
for him. This was a very irregular request given the strict security checks at the airports
and all the Bush-inspired bad publicity that Syria enjoyed for being one of the members of
the so-called “Axis of Evil”. As I can't tell a lie to such questions as “Did you pack your
bags yourself”, the request was politely refused. I thought he had no chance but an old man
behind him duly obliged and the bags were loaded on the plane under another passenger's
name.
