We then returned to the Consulate, which opened at 10. There was a big queue already, but
we did not need to join it, as we had not graduated to that stage of the process and we just
deposited our passports with the translated application forms, collected our receipts, and
were told to come back in two days at 2:00 p.m. for the collection of our visas.
This was my Mum's 79 th birthday. I phoned her to wish her a happy birthday and sent her
some flowers. I was going to visit her al little later that summer on my way to Ayr and the
Common Ground festival, which I would be attending with my son, Phil.
