Data centers
A data center is a logical entity that defines the set of physical and logical resources used in
a managed virtual environment. Think of it as a container that houses clusters of hosts, vir-
tual machines, storage, and networks. To create a new data center, follow the ensuing steps:
1. Click on the
Data Centers
tab and then on
New
, and give the data center a mean-
ingful name and description.
2. Select iSCSI as
Type
from the drop-down menu and choose
iSCSI (internet
Small Computer System Interface)
.
3. Set
Compatibility Version
to
3.3
and leave the
Quota Mode
field set to
Disabled
at this point of time, and we will see how to enable this in our upcoming chapter,
which talks about quota management.
4. Finally, provide details in the
Comment
textbox and click on
OK
