In-Depth Information
Now we can use the created QoS profile and attach it to a VNIC, also known as a
Virtual
Machine
(
VM
) interface profile. Starting with Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.3,
when you create a new logical network from the manager, a VNIC profile of the same
name as the logical network is automatically created under that logical network. We can
also create multiple VNIC profiles, and apply those profiles to respective virtual ma-
chines.
To create a new VNIC profile, perform these steps:
1. Log in to the
Administrator
console and navigate to the
Networks
resource tab.
2. Select the appropriate logical network and click on the
Profiles
tab in the bottom
pane.
3. Click on
New
and this will open a new
VM Interface Profile
window.
4. Insert some meaningful content in the
Name
and
Description
fields, and select
the QoS profile you created from the drop-down menu.
5. Optionally, one can enable the
Port Mirroring
option; this will copy layer 3 net-
work traffic on a given logical network and host to a virtual interface on a virtual
machine, which can be used for network tuning, debugging, and more.
6. Finally, enable or disable
Allow all users to use this Profile
, and click on
OK
to
save this profile and close the window.
