The requirements of live migration
For live or cold migration to work in RHEV, the following are the minimum prerequisites
that should be met:
• The source and destination host must be a part of the same cluster in RHEV
• Hosts must be in up status and must access the same virtual networks and VLANs
• Enough compute resources, such as CPU capacity and RAM, must be available on
the destination host
• Both the source and destination hosts must have access to the data storage domain
on which the virtual machine images reside
• Shared storage, such as network storage or fiber channel SAN to store the virtual
machine images
• It is strongly recommended that you dedicate a logical network for the live migra-
tion traffic by splitting management, virtual machine data, and storage traffic using
a dedicated logical network to minimize the risk of network saturation
