Advantages of live migration
There are primarily three main advantages of live migration:

Load balancing
: RHEV lets you move the virtual machine running on the over-
loaded host to an underutilized host in order to ensure smoother functioning of
business-critical workloads without any service interruption

Hardware or software maintenance
: If there is a need to upgrade, add, or remove
any hardware, and in the case of a planned software upgrade, you can safely relo-
cate the guest operating system, without any downtime, to other active hypervisor
hosts at any time
•
Power saving
: By using live migration, one can consolidate the guest operating
system to switch on to the set of hosts in the cluster and power off the remaining
set of hosts in order to save energy and cut down power costs during low usage and
non-business hours
