To import a virtual machine or template within the same RHEV environment, perform the
following steps:
1. Navigate to the
Storage
tab and select the export domain. Now, select the
Data
Center
tab from the bottom pane.
2. Select the data center to which this export domain is attached and click on
Main-
tenance
. This will put the export domain in the maintenance state.
3. Once it goes to the maintenance state, select
Detach
on the same window. This
will detach the export domain from the data center and the status of the export do-
main changes to
Unattached
.
4. Now, to attach to the other data center in the same RHEV environment, select
Unattached Export Domain
from the
Storage
tab.
5. Then, select the
Data Center
tab from the bottom pane, and click on
Attach
. A
new window will open with a list of all the available active data centers in your
environment. Select the data center where you want to attach this export domain
to import the virtual machine or templates.
6. Once you click on
OK
, the status of the export domain will change from the
Maintenance
to
Locked
state for a few seconds, and then, it will switch to the
Active
state.
7. To import the virtual machine from the export disk, select the export domain and
click on
VM Import
from the bottom pane. Select the virtual machine and click
on
Import
.
8. In the new import virtual machine window, select the data storage domain and the
cluster on which you want to import the virtual machine. Also, if you select
Col-
lapse Snapshots
or
Clone
in the bottom pane of the same window, it will give
you the option to convert your virtual machine storage allocation policy to either
Thin
or
Preallocated
under the
Disk
section. Click on
OK
to start the import
process.
Note
Importation is a slow process, and depends upon the size of the virtual machine
image and your performance of the storage and network. Keep an eye on the
Events
tab to track the status of completion.
To import the virtual machine or template to a different RHEV environment, perform the
following steps:
1. Remove the export domain from the active RHEV environment.
