In-Depth Information
To import a virtual machine or template within the same RHEV environment, perform the
following steps:
1. Navigate to the Storage tab and select the export domain. Now, select the Data
Center tab from the bottom pane.
2. Select the data center to which this export domain is attached and click on Main-
tenance . This will put the export domain in the maintenance state.
3. Once it goes to the maintenance state, select Detach on the same window. This
will detach the export domain from the data center and the status of the export do-
main changes to Unattached .
4. Now, to attach to the other data center in the same RHEV environment, select
Unattached Export Domain from the Storage tab.
5. Then, select the Data Center tab from the bottom pane, and click on Attach . A
new window will open with a list of all the available active data centers in your
environment. Select the data center where you want to attach this export domain

Maintenance to Locked state for a few seconds, and then, it will switch to the
Active state.

you the option to convert your virtual machine storage allocation policy to either
Thin or Preallocated under the Disk section. Click on OK to start the import
process.
Note
Importation is a slow process, and depends upon the size of the virtual machine
image and your performance of the storage and network. Keep an eye on the
Events tab to track the status of completion.
To import the virtual machine or template to a different RHEV environment, perform the
following steps:
1. Remove the export domain from the active RHEV environment.
