one bootable disk to the guest operating system. Check the Is Shareable option if
you want to share and attach the disk to more than one virtual machine at a time.
It's useful to create a high-availability guest cluster between the sets of virtual ma-
chines to access the shared storage of data. To efficiently use sharing disks across
multiple virtual machines, you need some cluster-aware software to run on these
guests, which will take care of simultaneous read/write operations of the disks
across these guests in order to avoid any filesystem corruption. For more details
on shareable disks, please refer to the Shareable Disks section in Chapter 6 , Ad-
vanced Storage and Networking Features .
8. Finally, click on OK , and the window will pop up with an option to add a second
drive. Then, click on Configure later . The virtual machine will momentarily go
into the locked state while attaching the virtual hard disk before coming back to
the down state.
The following screenshot explains the various settings we discussed in the preceding sec-
tion:
Installing Red Hat Enterprise Linux on a virtual machine
Before you start the guest operation deployment in order to connect to a graphical console
of a virtual machine that proceeds to the installation, you need a few console-supported
components installed on your client machine from where you are going to access and cre-
ate a new virtual machine from the administration portal.
For clients running Mozilla Firefox on Linux systems, the SPICE plugin is required to run
a SPICE client remote viewer application in order to access the virtual machine's graphic-
al console. To install the SPICE client, log in to the client as a root, and from the terminal,
install the SPICE and virt-viewer packages using the following command:
#yum install spice-xpi virt-viewer
