Host settings
The Host settings can be performed using the following steps:
1. Under the Host setting tab, you can choose to run the virtual machine on any host
in the cluster or pin it to a specific host in the cluster by choosing the Any Host
in Cluster or Specific options, respectively. If you choose Specific , then you can
select a host from the drop-down box.
This will enable the virtual machine to start only on this host, and later, the ad-
ministrator will migrate the virtual machine to other hosts in the cluster depend-
ing upon the migration policy setting, as explained in the next step.
2. Under the Migration Options setting, you can choose any of the three options:
Allow Manual and automatic migration : This will enable auto live mi-
gration depending upon the cluster policy we defined while creating the
cluster, and it will also allow the administrator to manually migrate the
virtual machine to other hosts in the cluster.
Allow manual migration only : This option doesn't allow the automatic
live migration but only allows manual migration by the administrator.
Do not allow migration : The virtual machine cannot be migrated either
automatically or manually.
Use Host CPU : This will allow virtual machines to take advantage of the
features of the physical CPU of the host on which it's running. You need
to choose Do not allow migration to enable this option. The available
options for the Host section are shown in the following screenshot:
